The Obsession = Writing = Writer

Deana Zhollis (Dee-Anna Zol-liss)

Every writer is born with an obsession; an obsession that possesses the pen and makes it write. What it is, is hidden and expressed in every story. Just read carefully and you can see it. Most people call it a Passion.

Since the day I set my eyes on the movie Gargoyles made in 1972 (the year of my birth), my mind’s been drifting with romance and/with unearthly beings. So, I began making up stories, beginning with dolls and paper dolls, to reading folklore and fairy tales; and then on to my rite of passage–Science Fiction & Fantasy (even before I knew what it stood for!). Engulfed in the genre, I dreamed over and over of that perfect union with inhumans with a dark, sizzling twist.

And so the story begins…

I attended University of San Diego, California and majored in Communication with a minor in Literature/Writing (a major in Writing was much too hard for me to handle, heh heh!). I got my first reward on writing at age 12 and looked forward to my next accomplishment…

But, I stopped writing after college (1995) when life start settling in, but “the calling” didn’t leave my blood. I got back on board in 1998 and started my first novel (my baby!) , The Made and finished in 2000. It won 1st place in 2001 at the Houston Writers Convention.

Got my next novels completed under my belt with the help of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writer’s Month) and working on several more. I have my feet on those stepping stones, going up one at a time and taking them gradually. Being a Capricorn, we rise gradually and with patience!!

Currently residing in Katy, Texas (Just outside Houston), I am an aspiring author of romantic/erotic science fiction/fantasy.

I’ve been stamped with the obsession, and proud of it!! Heh. Heh.

  1. Hi Deana: Congrats on all your books. This is awesome. I self-published a children’s picture book via Lightning Source in 2010. I am gettting ready to do it again, but an adult chapter book this time. Someone converted to PDFX for me. I can not longer get in touch with them. Would you be willing to convert for others for a fee? If so, how much? Thanks. Alice

Converting the PDFX is really for the text portion of the book. I don’t know anything about full-color picture books. I would go to my Book Cover Designer for help if I ever did a picture book. All I know is that the Book Cover only need High Quality.

Take a look at Lightning Source’s video on the conversion. You really just need the program, and it’s really easy. http://youtu.be/dEUECCsNTlc.

However, if you need some additional help, I’m going to also send you an email.
